Crete through Instagram

Since most of my touristy pics from Crete ended up on my Insta wall (with a dedicated and very Mediterranean looking signature filter) I thought it would be acceptable to go through them on the blog as well! I always wanted to visit Greece and finally got to explore Crete. We only had time for one island this time, in the future I will still have to experience Santorini since people doesn't seem to hold back when it comes to compliments on that place.

So to put it in one paragraph..
Humbling cliffs, treasure shops and the most peaceful views over Elounda. Local leather goods and traditional Greek jewelry that I’ve had no problem incorporating into my daily style. Wine, beer and olive oil tasting on the days I didn’t fall asleep by the pool at our stunning hotel. From the apparel side I was either overdressed in lace or wrapped up in my favorite Greek’s designs. On this though, there is naturally more material to share.

About a boy...

CHANEL medium boy bag

Oh gosh, finally mine. Purchase of the year, I don’t know maybe life, as these are the gems that we wish we would have inherited from our mother. I’m not really a bag person (ish, maybe I’m now) cos everyone knows it’s about the shoes. But after having my eye on the boy for years, I knew that if I went to the opening of the new Bond st. store in London, I would have to honor the biggest Chanel store in the world with a legendary purchase. The worst part is that I promised myself to take shopping break but this all has just got me craving another boy - time to humble down, or is it?!

A day at Boutari

While our Crete visit I made sure we visited one of the local wine yards, so we stopped by Boutari on our last day. Took home a few bottles and kicked off my shoes while we sat in the sun and soaked up the beautiful view for a while.

Touristing

Our beautiful and in every way successful Crete trip is already two days behind, but I’m reliving the bliss through the photos. First of all a wanted to send a big thank you to all the great tips and advice! We spend most of our stay in Elounda, and eherm majority in our beautiful hotel, which you can see was quite attractive.

Now a million things to do but luckily the same amount of posts heading you way soon, few hours of zzz then back to Helsinki!

Say it like you mean it

KALEVALA 'käärme' snake ring
KALEVALA 'polku' bronze ring
 CASIO sheen watch
H&M spike bracelet
SILVER JEWELRY - local finds
RIVER ISLAND dress (old season)
PREEN x ALDO ‘Musilova’ heels

I almost forgot how good the jewelry finds tend to be in new countries, I’m totally in love with some of the traditional Greek pieces, with the ‘Meander’ being my favorite. It symbolizes the eternal flow of things. Simple, masculine and totally original, I’m mixing the newcomers with some, to me traditional, Finnish Kalevala bronze rings. Carrying a heavy load of history on my hands here, but it really does feel different to wear jewelry with a meaning, I suggest more of us try it.

What I've been up to..

Sorry it’s been a bit quiet here lately! But not to worry, I have been keeping myself busy shooting the Preen for Aldo collection to show you, amongst other amazing things here in Crete. I love this island. So more on the collection and everything else very soon, time to catch up on sleep again.

Little scales

ZARA top
MARIMEKKO pants
CASIO sheen watch
KURT GEIGER rhinestone bracelet
H&M arrow bracelet
PRADA sunglasses
ZARA shoes

Hi from Greece!! We are spending the week on the beautiful island of Crete, where from you will soon experience a photo overdose - it’s already in full swing over at Instagram, @5inchandup. But before I took off I had 24 hours to run errands in London, which I did in a pair of Marimekko pants that give graphic print a bit of a new meaning. It’s not dots neither is it checks - scales fyi, by Annika Rimalas back from 1965. Also hello 6 inch heels, I’ve missed this hight dearly, the world looks a lot better from up here.

See you soon xxx

The girly suit

COS shirt

This is what I wore on a shoot I did with both of my sisters last Friday! We rarely get to spend full days together anymore so we extended the get-together to the whole weekend. So before we took off to the seaside and left all (in my head) normal clothes on dry land, I wore this oversized coat with a matching skirt. I wasn't feeling the skirt on it’s own and the jacket too was cut in a weird ‘in-between’ length, but together they worked as a perfect little girly suit.
